AH Chocolate shop opens in Covent Garden
Adam Handling launches his latest venture: AH Chocolate, sustainable chocolate, finished in London
Grafted | Single Variety | Hand Painted
Since I have known Adam, he’s has an incredible career, and has achieved a Michelin star as well as an MBE amongst other things. A sustainable, ethical chocolate shop is a fantastic addition to his portfolio and I went along on opening day to congratulate him and of course, buy some chocolates.
The cultivation of cacao tells a powerful story. Similarly to coffee, every cocoa bean has different expressions, based on its locality.
In the UK, it’s common to think that chocolate tastes the same – that generic word, ‘chocolate’. Adam’s is to create the purest expression of perfection, utilising sustainable chocolates that really showcase the essence of that fruit.

He uses Firetree single origin chocolate, and having been a fan of the producers for a while, we couldn’t agree more on Adam’s choice. The flavour of these chocolates is representative of the soil, the air and the hands that nurtured them and of course, the trees are located in some incredible locations too.

Quality and visually stunning
The chocolate is fantastic. I treated myself to a box of 12, in beautiful packaging (which I will keep and reuse when I go to restock). So far, each chocolate I tried has been unique and mouthwatering. The coffee and pecan was a particular pick me up on a busy work day and the yuzu and sencha had a lovely free feel to it, perfect for after dinner. Orange marmalade is a decadent take on jaffa cakes, and the Krug champagne even more so!
Well done Adam and team and welcome to London.
